Alexis Knight Architects, under the leadership of Steven W. Knight, R.A., served as Architect of Record and Principal Project Manager for the development of the Nursing Classroom and Laboratory Building at Indian River State College's Dixon Hendry Campus in Okeechobee, Florida.
Designed to enhance access to higher education and healthcare training throughout the region, the facility consolidated multiple academic programs previously dispersed across Okeechobee into a centralized, state-of-the-art learning environment. The building incorporates advanced distance-learning technology, enabling students to participate in classes and collaborative instruction delivered from Indian River State College campuses in Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie, and Vero Beach.
The facility includes nursing and healthcare training laboratories, computer and information technology labs, business data processing and mathematics learning centers, classrooms, student services, faculty offices, and flexible conference spaces designed to support evolving educational needs. Completed on schedule and within budget, the project reflects a commitment to academic excellence, workforce development, and the advancement of healthcare education within the community.
